Taylor Frankie Paul's Bachelorette Season Canceled After Dakota Mortensen Assault Video Surfaces
Taylor Frankie Paul is breaking her silence.
Shortly after ABC confirmed that the 31-year-old’s season of The Bachelorette would not be premiering on March 22 following the release of a video showing an altercation between Taylor and her ex Dakota Mortensen, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star spoke out to address the situation.
“Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security,”her rep told E! News in a March 19 statement. “After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
The statement continued, “There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives.”
“Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation, and public shaming,” the spokesperson added. “She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story.”
E! News has reached out to Dakota’s rep for comment but has not heard back yet.

ABC pulled the plug on Taylor’s season on March 19 after footage was released showing a physical altercation between Taylor and Dakota—who share a 2-year-old son—from 2023.
"In light of the newly released video just surfaced today,” a Disney Entertainment spokesperson told E! in a statement, “we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
In the video, obtained by TMZ, Taylor—who is also mom to two kids with ex-husband Tate Paul—could be seen grabbing and kicking Dakota.
Following the release, a spokesperson for Taylor called the video in a statement to E! News part of “a destructive campaign to harm Taylor,” claiming it “conveniently omits context,” and categorizes the release as “a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior.” (TMZ did not specify from where they obtained the video.)

After the 2023 incident, Taylor was arrested and charged with one count of felony aggravated assault, two counts of felony domestic violence in the presence of a child causing injury, one count of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief, according to court documents released by the District Attorney for Salt Lake County and obtained by E! News.
That August, she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, according to ABC4 Utah, while her other charges were dismissed.
Taylor and Dakota are also currently being investigated over an altercation from this February that halted production on season five of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Utah’s Draper City police confirmed to People that an investigation had been opened and “allegations have been made in both directions.”
A rep for Dakota previously addressed the allegations, saying the 33-year-old only “wants to co-parent well.”
"His number one priority here is protecting Ever," the rep told Entertainment Weekly in a statement March 18, adding of the alleged incident, "he knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor."
