How Kristen Bell & More Followed Actor Awards First-Ever Dress Code

Kristen Bell, Kate Hudson, Rose Byre and more celebrities tapped into the dress code at the 2026 Actor Awards (formerly known as SAG Awards) on March 1 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

The Actor Awards: Best Dressed Celebrities Throughout the Years

Hollywood glamour was reimagined at the 2026 Actor Awards.

After all, the March 1 ceremony (formerly known as the SAG Awards) imposed a dress code for the first time in its 31-year history, requesting its celebrity guests to follow a theme of “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the ’20s and ’30s." (Click here to see all the celebs on the red carpet.)

Host Kristen Bell took the assignment to heart, stepping out at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in a sheer Georges Hobeika gown evoking the glitz of the Roaring Twenties with fireworks-inspired embellishments. She completed the luxe look with jewelry from Messika, including a diamond-studded statement necklace and matching earrings.

Also wearing Messika was nominee Rose Byrne, who leaned into the '20s silhouette with a white, dropped-waist frock from Chanel.

And as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jenna Ortega, Mindy Kaling and Mia Goth tapped into the decade's lace trend, Abby Elliot, Odessa A'zion and Bridgerton's Yrin Ha channeled their inner flapper with fringed attire.

However, others let their accessories do the talking. Fran Drescher—who served as the president of Screen Actors Guild from 2021to 2025—wore a black velvet top hat and a pink feathery shawl, while One Battle After Another's Chase Infiniti rocked a flapper-esque, beaded headpiece that matched her custom Louis Vuitton gown.

But some like Kate Hudson, Viola Davis, Patricia Arquette and Aimee Lou Wood opted to pay tribute to the '30s, sashaying down the red carpet in draped gowns popular at that time.

As for why the Actor Awards put an unprecedented dress code in place? According to Elle, who partnered with the Actor Awards, the theme "aligns with the overall creative vision of this year’s show and invites attendees to reexamine classic ideas of glamour reimagined for a modern red carpet."

“As The Actor Awards continue to evolve for a global audience, partnering with Elle allows us to elevate fashion as a central part of the show’s creative expression,” Actor Awards showrunner Jon Brockett added in a January statement. “It’s an opportunity to align the red carpet, the show, and the culture around it into a single, cohesive moment.”
