Olympic Runners Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield Are Engaged
Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield have achieved their gold medal finish.
The couple tied the knot in a "All Shades of Melanin"-themed ceremony held in Trenton, Georgia April 4, they confirmed to Vogue.
"It was definitely a ceremony of unity," Junelle told the outlet. "It was just amazing to see the different cultures mesh into one. Everybody was having fun, interacting, and filled with love.”
Their nuptials come nearly two years after the Olympic sprinter proposed to Junelle, 28, in front of a candle and sparkler-lit rose-covered heart display equipped with a neon sign reading, “Will you marry me?”
In the video shared to Instagram, Noah—clad in a custom black suit with a gold racing stripe down the side—can be seen leading Junelle to the display before getting on one knee and popping the question.
To no surprise, Junelle said yes, flashing the ring as the couple's friends and family cheered in the background. Noah captioned the video, “To my Future Wife I Will Love You Forever.”
Many of the couple's celebrity friends showed their support following the happy news, with actor Terry Crews writing, “CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS,” while fellow Olympian Fredrick Richard added, alongside a smiling emoji, “Huge congrats bro.”
In a video posted to Junelle's story after the proposal, the Jamaica-born athlete could be heard saying to the gathered group of loved ones, “I’m extremely happy and grateful to each and every one of you guys.”
She added, “I hope you guys will also be along with us for the rest of our journey."
But how did the couple come to be? The pair first met in 2017 after Junelle reached out to Noah on social media. But as the six-time World Champion previously noted, their romance didn't immediately take off.

“I’m very defensive,” Noah shared on the Fast Lane Lifestyle podcast in June 2024, saying that at the time he was very cautious about who we spoke to. “I’m young to the scene, and I’m over here thinking, ‘I just broke the 300 indoor world record, I just can’t be giving my number out to nobody. You never know who be trying to take advantage of you.'"
Those initial feelings of hesitation didn’t last long, however, and soon enough the couple were chatting on the phone and playing iPhone games together. The following year, the pair finally met up in person, but Noah said their first date wasn't a first-place finish.
But just because a door closed at one time, doesn't mean another won't open later. And eventually, Noah—after both he and Junelle were single following other relationships—decided to try one more time.
“After the Olympics we get into the beginning of 2022 and I’m exiting my relationship,” Noah said. “I go back and I message Janelle. Lo and behold she messaged me back.”
And soon enough, it took just one first date in New York City for Junelle to know that the Olympic gold medalist was the man for her.
“At that moment I knew that I wanted him to be my boyfriend,” she said. “Because it was raining in New York, and I called an Uber, and he was standing in the rain opening the door. He waited until the car drove up and everything.”
Seven months later, after the 2022 World Athletic Championships, the pair made their relationship official. And in the time since, they've each changed the other for the better.
“I started therapy about two years ago because my boyfriend is big on therapy and I felt I needed it,” Junelle explained during an interview with The Inside Lane in July 2024. “Now, I feel like I can enjoy every moment because life is short.”
And Junelle, too, has taught Noah a thing or two about taking a beat.
“It’s hard because I’m a communicator and a do-er, so when we get to a point where we’re butting heads I want to talk about it like right there right now,” Noah told the Inside Track Podcast in March 2024. “And then she’s like, ‘I need to take my step back, I need to think, regroup, then I can come back.’ It’s taught me a lot about patience, and I believe this is my best relationship ever.”
