Inside Todd & Julie Chrisley's World Since Release From Prison

Todd Chrisley, Julie Chrisley Address "Ignorant" Comments Over Parenting Chloe Chrisley

Todd Chrisley couldn't wait to go back to life as he knew it following his release from prison one year ago.

For instance, he called showering without shoes on for the first time in two-plus years "almost like your first sexual encounter," telling ABC News in July it felt "that good."

As daughter Savannah Chrisley, 28, noted on her Unlocked podcast days after Todd walked free on May 28, 2025, "Dad has not lost his sense of humor. He is still as spunky as ever."

The 57-year-old and wife Julie Chrisley were convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax evasion and only served 28 months of their respective 12- and seven-year sentences after being pardoned by President Donald Trump. (They pleaded not guilty at trial and maintain their innocence.)

"A year ago, we were all sitting around, hearts broken, not knowing if this was ever going to happen again," Todd said on the April premiere of his Two Sons and Me podcast, which he co-hosts with Chase Chrisley, 29, and Grayson Chrisley, 20. "And look at where we are today."

In the end, going to prison only served as a pause in Todd and Julie's public life, though it didn't feel like that to their kids—they're also parents to Lindsie Chrisley, 36, and Chloe Chrisley, 13—back home.

"Our family was broken apart," Chase said on an October episode of Chrisley Confessions 2.0, his parents having relaunched their podcast 49 days after their "extended vacation," as Todd cheekily called it, ended. "We weren't filming. We weren't doing anything that we were used to doing."

But while the Chrisley Knows Best patriarch and matriarch were still behind bars—Todd at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, Julie at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.—Savannah and other family members signed up to do their own reality show with Lifetime.

The deal was announced days before Todd and Julie were pardoned. Cameras were soon rolling on The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, featuring the couple's return to the fold.

Julie—whose time as a brunette upon her release was short-lived—said on The Tamron Hall Show in September it felt "like forever ago" that they'd been on TV, "but then in certain ways it seems like it was just yesterday."

There hasn't been a second season of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, but she and Todd went on to compete as the Croissants—he called the characters a nod to Savannah's late ex-fiancé Nic Kerdiles, who was French—on The Masked Singer.

Todd's "a great singer," Julie told E! News, but really she and her husband of 30 years said yes to the challenge because it was "something we could do together.”

After their elimination aired in January, Todd told Gold Derby that he leaned into performing "Jailhouse Rock" as a way of "playing with the situation and letting the naysayers know we were going to get to it before they did."

At the time, the couple said they were working on a variety of on-camera projects. Julie noted she had a cooking show in the works, possibly featuring a twist on prison food, as well as something she was working on with Savannah, while Todd said he had something proverbially cooking in the U.K.

The couple moved into Savannah's house in Nashville after prison but were considering a return to their native South Carolina, depending on "how things fall with production and other projects that we’re working on right now," Todd told People in August. The dream, he shared with ABC News, was to acquire a mansion in the Palmetto State "that we are gonna convert into a hotel, and we’re gonna create a show around that."

And, in the meantime, he and Julie have their podcasts.

"You can tell things aren't going well 'cause he had to bring me on here," Grayson cracked on the May 6 episode of Chrisley Confessions 2.0, his debut on his parents' pod. Having just finished another semester at University of Alabama, he quipped that he was "living the dream, one nightmare at a time."

So, the whole family's sense of humor remains intact in the wake of all that's happened

“I say this often, that so many people that go through what we have gone through, their whole world is shattered. There’s nothing left for them,” Todd told Variety in January. “We were blessed that that didn’t happen to us."

Thinking of all the luxuries that awaited him and Julie as soon as they were out of prison, "it has been a very humbling season for our family," he added, "and it has exposed us to families that we probably would have never had any interaction with. And so I look at that, and I look at where our life is today and how blessed we are since we’ve been home. And I don’t take it for granted.”

As Todd advised Grayson and Chase on the May 18 episode of Two Sons and Me, "If there's anything y'all can take from my life...Enjoy your moments. Because those are fleeting."

Todd Chrisley & Julie Chrisley

Todd Chrisley is the patriarch of the Chrisley family.

He was born in Georgia in April 1969 and raised in South Carolina. He and first wife Teresa Terry welcomed daughter Lindsie Chrisley in 1989 and son Kyle Chrisley in 1991 before splitting a few years later. After their breakup, Todd wed Julie Chrisley (born in South Carolina in January 1973) in 1996.

Together, they added to their family with the births of kids Chase Chrisley, Savannah Chrisley and Grayson Chrisley and the adoption of Kyle's daughter Chloe Chrisley. They also went through challenges, including Julie's 2012 breast cancer battle (she's now cancer-free).

As Todd said on the premiere of Chrisley Knows Best—a show that followed the family's ups and downs as well as their rich lifestyle in Atlanta and later Nashville—he made "95 percent" of their money through his real estate business before entering reality Tv. As for Julie, she was working at a bank when she started dating Todd.

Chrisley Knows Best ran from 2014 to 2023 and led to spin-offs like Growing Up Chrisley and What's Cooking With Julie? as well as other media ventures like the family members' podcasts.

In 2022, Todd and Julie were convicted of fraud and tax crimes, and they were originally sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively (with him being held in Florida and her being behind bars in Kentucky). The couple had pleaded not guilty.

In May 2025, President Donald Trump pardoned Todd and Julie and they were released from prison.

Lindsie Chrisley

Born in September 1989, Lindsie is Todd's eldest daughter from his marriage to Teresa.

She attended Georgia State University, where she met now-ex husband Will Campbell. They wed in 2012, and she graduated and gave birth to their son Jackson that December. Two years later, Chrisley Knows Best premiered.

Lindsie appeared on the series for five seasons, where viewers saw how Todd and Will didn't get along. She and Will filed for divorce in 2016, and she left the show in 2017.

In the following years, there was public fallout between her and her family. It wasn't until 2022 that Lindsie, Todd, Julie and Savannah reunited publicly on crossover episodes of their podcasts.

"God knows I wasn't prepared for this estrangement," he said on Chrisley Confessions. "But I will tell you now looking back, we needed this estrangement."

However, their reunion was short-lived. In a March 2025 episode of her podcast The Southern Tea, Lindsie said she hasn't seen her dad "in quite some time." The following month, she confirmed she's also estranged from her siblings.

"We can live in the same space doing the same things and not necessarily agree or align and it’s no hate, it’s no ill will," Lindsie said on Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra’s podcast, Cate & Ty Break It Down in April 2025. "We just don’t serve each other in each other’s lives."

But after Julie and Todd were pardoned in May 2025, Lindsie wrote on Instagram Stories, "With God all things are possible."

Kyle Chrisley

Kyle, born in August 1991, is Todd’s eldest son from his former marriage to Teresa. In November 2012, he became father to daughter Chloe, whose mother is his ex Angela Johnson. But in 2016, Todd and Julie adopted Chloe. While Kyle appeared on only the first season of Chrisley Knows Best (aside from a brief cameo in 2021), his past arrests and rocky relationship with his family (which involved them being estranged and reuniting at various points in time) continued to make headlines. He’s also spoken candidly about his mental health journey and battle with addiction, sharing in a 2019 Facebook post that he's sober.

In 2021, Kyle wed Ashley Nelson and became a father to her kids Haiden and Mackenzie.

As for where Kyle stands with Todd and Julie, he expressed his hope to reconnect with them after their return from prison.

"I know they can't wait to get home and just be with family," he told E! News in May 2025, "and I'm going to remain hopeful that another reconciliation is possible."

Chase Chrisley

Chase is the first child Todd welcomed with wife Julie, arriving in June 1996.

In addition to appearing on Chrisley Knows Best with his parents and siblings, he co-starred on Growing Up Chrisley with his sister Savannah from 2019 to 2022.

Chase was previously engaged to Emmy Medders. But after breaking up and getting back together, they officially parted ways in 2023. Later that year, he began dating Jodi Laine Fournerat. Fans can often find photos of the pair on his Instagram along with snaps of him and grandma Nanny Faye Chrisley.

After Chase's parents entered prison, he spoke about how he and his siblings came together.

"We've definitely gotten a lot closer," he told Extra in 2023. "When you get hit with something like this, I feel like a lot of people either separate and go their own ways or they cling together, which is how we were raised. We've clung together and we're still fighting."

Chase had his own run-in with the law in January 2025, when he was arrested in Atlanta on a simple battery charge for allegedly becoming "really drunk" and slapping a bar manager after being asked to leave, according to police records obtained by E! News. His lawyers told People that "this incident has been entirely blown out of proportion."

"He did not assault anyone," they added. "Chase was trying to close out his tab and leave. We will be independently investigating the situation."

Chase is also an entrepreneur, launching a candle brand and roofing company.

Savannah Chrisley

Todd and Julie welcomed daughter Savannah in August 1997.

Early in her career, she competed in the pageant world—winning Miss Tennessee Teen USA in 2016 and vying for the Miss Teen USA crown later that year. However, her time in the limelight didn't end there as she went on to appear on several reality and competition shows, including Chrisley Knows Best, Growing Up Chrisley, The Masked Singer and Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. Savannah is also a real estate agent in Tennessee, the founder of Good Girl RX and host of the podcast Unlocked.

In her personal life, Savannah got engaged to hockey player Nic Kerdiles in 2019. However, they broke up the following year, and he died after a motorcycle crash in 2023. She later dated Robert Shiver; however, she confirmed their split in April 2025 after about two years together.

Savannah obtained custody of her brother Grayson and sister Chloe while Julie and Todd were in prison and advocated for her parents' release.

"72600019 and 72601019: These may be just numbers to you, but to me, they're my whole heart," she said at the 2024 Republican National Convention. "These numbers are my parents' identification numbers in our federal prison system."

After Trump pardoned Julie and Todd and they were released from prison, Savannah posted footage from their return home, including one that read "Reunited and it feels so good."

Grayson Chrisley

Grayson is Todd and Julie's youngest son.

Born in May 2006, Grayson entered the spotlight when Chrisley Knows Best premiered eight years later. He's now a student at the University of Alabama—and yes, he gets recognized on campus.

"It's been insane," he said on a February 2025 episode of Savannah's podcast Unlocked. "It's more than it's ever happened here."

After Julie and Todd went to prison, Savannah gained custody of Grayson and Chloe.

"I’m not their mom. I’m not their dad. I’m their sister and I get to love and guide them through life," the podcaster wrote on Instagram in July 2023. "Being a bonus parent is TOUGH…no one could ever add up to their parents. But these kiddos have shown me so much love, patience, grace, understanding, and appreciation! Helping to raise these two kiddos is the hardest but most rewarding job I will ever have."

And Savannah's bond with Grayson grew even stronger.

"Many people look at our situation and think, 'She saved him,'" she wrote on Instagram for his 18th birthday in May 2024, "but little do they know… YOU saved ME."

Chloe Chrisley

Todd and Julie started out as Chloe's grandparents after his son Kyle fathered the child with ex Angela Johnson in November 2012. However, they adopted her four years later.

“My heart!” Julie wrote on Instagram in February 2018. “This child brings so much happiness to our family. What did we do without you?”

Fans watched Todd and Julie raise Chloe—or CoCo as her family calls her—on Chrisley Knows Best. But after the couple entered prison, Savannah took over as her guardian.

“Watching her grow has been the biggest blessing of my life… she has QUITE the personality!” Savannah wrote on Instagram for Chloe’s 11th birthday in November 2023. "I wish I had her humor. I wish I had her carefree spirit. I wish I had her heart. She is everything that I hope to be one day! There is not a day goes by to where she doesn’t reach me something new. Because of her… we are all better people! I love you sweet girl! KEEP SHINING! NEVER GIVE UP! And ALWAYS KNOW… I AM HERE!”

After it was announced that Trump was pardoning Todd and Julie, Savannah shared Chloe’s reaction

"Chloe I think is still in shock, and she doesn't want to get her hopes up because she feels like something bad's going to happen," she said on a May 2025 episode of News Nation. "But I'm excited to be going to get my dad and bringing him home to her."

"Nanny" Faye Chrisley

Faye Chrisley—a.k.a. "Nanny"—is Todd's mom.

"I am blessed beyond measure that God chose you to be my mother," he wrote on Instagram for Mother's Day in 2021. "I love you more than you will ever know and you fill my heart with love, hope, faith and confidence."

Born in September 1944, Nanny grew up in South Carolina. She married army veteran Gene Chrisley, and they welcomed sons Todd, Randy Chrisley and Derrick Chrisley, the latter of whom died when he was a baby. Gene also passed away in 2012.

While on Chrisley Knows Best, Nanny captured fans' hearts with her humor, fun times with sister Frances (who died in 2022), dating adventures and advice. And whether she was hitting the casino, raising a glass of wine or spending time with family, she proved to viewers she knows how to have a good time.

However, Nanny has gone through hard times too. In addition to Todd and Julie's convictions, Nanny was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2021. But two years later, she shared she had overcome her health battle.

"I’m in remission, thank God," Nanny said on a 2023 episode of Lindsie's podcast The Southern Tea, per People. "I’ve been out moving around, doing the best I can."

Doing the best she can has been Nanny's approach to life in general.

"The world don’t always give you a good deck of cards to play with, so you play with them the best you can," she said on Savannah's podcast Unlocked. "You get up, brush yourself off and keep going."
