Anne Hathaway Reveals If Meryl Streep Went Method on 'Devil Wears Prada 2'
A third installment of The Devil Wears Prada actually would be groundbreaking.
Though the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2006 film doesn’t arrive in theaters until May 1, the cast is already thinking ahead to another fashion-forward collaboration.
When Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep stopped by Andy Cohen’s radio show, the host inquired about them returning for a third Devil Wears Prada movie in “5, 10, 15 years,” prompting Emily to step in before her IRL brother-in-law Stanley could crack a morbid joke.
“Don’t say ‘I’ll be dead,’” she told him during the cast’s April 20 appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. “You mustn’t say that joke.”
So, the Hunger Games alum took a different approach.
“Alright,” Stanley, 65, quipped back, “I’ll be infirmed.”
As for Meryl? Well, she’s game for a third film and then some.
“I’m up for it,” she admitted. “I’m up for Mamma Mia 3, myself.”
Although when it comes to reprising her role of Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia—who in the 2018 sequel Here We Go Again is revealed to be dead—some movie magic will have to take place before the dancing queen is back with her girls, adding, “They really do have to bring me back from the dead for that.”
But when it comes to more within the world of Devil Wears Prada, Emily and Stanley—who play Emily Charlton and Nigel—certainly wouldn’t take issue with mixing their personal and professional lives once more for the big screen.
After all, Emily, 43, revealed the pair hoped to have more scenes together in the long-awaited sophomore film.

"Stan and I were so angry that they didn't give us more to do together," Emily told E! News at the movie's New York City premiere April 20. "If we do another one, they better have us joined at the hip."
Of the actor, who is married to her sister Felicity Blunt, she added, "I love him."
And while Meryl, 76, quipped at the event that fans will be surprised to see “how young” her character Miranda Priestly looks in the film, she also shared insight into what it meant for the cast to push the film’s legacy into a new era.
“The fans told us what this movie was,” she told E! News. “We knew it was great and we thought it was fun. But a lot of great, fun movies don't move the way this did, on a trajectory to decades later.”
