Chrissy Teigen's Dad Ron Dies, 'Cravings' Author Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Her Father

Chrissy Teigen is in mourning.

The Cravings cookbook author shared her dad Ron Teigen died on June 9.

"Yesterday I woke up with a daddy and went to bed without one," Chrissy wrote on Instagram June 10. "All the same things happened. Hurried shower. Picked up stuffing from the dog toys. Answered some emails. Avoided some. Laughed with my friends and put on a pretty dress for a friend’s birthday. Took a video. How cute is this dress!"

She continued, "And then my dad just like…f--king died."

Chrissy went on to share how his passing was unexpected, writing, "I thought that since we talk about it and I’ve come to terms with him always having been an 'old dad' that I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground the way I did."

However, the 40-year-old is thankful for the time she did get to spend with Ron in his final months.

"I wrote my dad a letter about how grateful I was for him. About how hard he worked for us growing up and how much I love him," Chrissy shared. "I am forever grateful for the moment I handed him the letter, and all our years before."

Reminiscing about how her dad "hated nearly everything in the world that wasn’t a bass guitar, swing dancing, wood carving, animals, YouTube, or his family," she continued, "I have hundreds and hundreds of videos of him just being mad at things he isn’t even doing, watching, or eating. They make me so happy now."

"God I love you so much. I will talk to you every night. Thank you for being such a great dad," Chrissy added. "Until we complain again."

Ron was married to Chrissy's mom Vilailuck "Pepper" Teigen for over 35 years before their 2019 divorce.

In recent years, Ron moved to an assisted living facility near the Los Angeles home where Chrissy and her husband John Legend reside with their four kids: Luna, 10, Miles, 8, Esti, 3, and Wren, 2. Meanwhile, Pepper—who immigrated to the United States during the '80s—relocated back to her native Thailand.

"If you are able, volunteering at a retirement home, nursing home or assisted living community can be such a fulfilling and beautiful experience," Chrissy wrote in a 2024 Instagram post. "My mom has been taking my sister and I since we were little, and now it’s just so special to get to go and see pops too. I try to go as often as possible, and my cup is filled every time."

In the wake of Ron's passing, John postponed his concerts in New Mexico and Arizona.

"We have had a death in our family," he wrote in a June 10 Instagram Story, "and I need to be home with them."
