Wike Not Our Member – Says APC Despite FCT Polls Support

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not a member of the party, despite his open support for its candidates in the just-concluded FCT area council election.

Wike, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, had worked for and ensured the victory of candidates of the APC in the election.

In the polls held across the Federal Capital Territory, the APC secured victory in five out of the six local government chairmanship contests.

Naija News reports that Wike had, before the election, publicly vowed to support candidates who align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

His active involvement in the campaigns and the eventual outcome of the election have continued to generate debate, particularly regarding his political allegiance.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, was asked what the party would do if Wike were a member of the APC but working for another political party, an action widely regarded as anti-party activity.

Morka Declined To Speculate

“No, listen, you’re asking for me to speculate, and I will not speculate. That question is for the PDP. You should direct that question to the PDP as to how they organize their party, how they treat their members, how they handle matters like this in the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.

“I cannot speculate, you know, on a matter that rests exclusively within the party.”

While acknowledging the minister’s role in the FCT election outcome, Morka, on behalf of the ruling party, made it clear that Wike’s political status has not changed.
