Nollywood actor, Olumide Oworu, has lamented that Nigeria has been retrogressing over the years, expressing a desire to be among those who would rise and save the nation from total collapse.

Naija News reports that Olumide made this known in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, while explaining the reasons he ventured into partisan politics.

The movie star said he wants to be among policymakers, stressing that the poor policymaking of the present crop of politicians was affecting him just like every other common person.

According to Olumide, things are getting worse, adding that most of the present crop of politicians are ageing out.

He said, “I decided to join politics because of how the country is going. I know how Nigeria was when I was younger, but now, things keep getting worse. And I want to start a family and raise my kids here.

“So, I have to make sure that I try my best to be among the policymakers because whatever policy that is being enacted, it would ultimately, affect me like every other common person.

“And also, most of the present crops of politicians are aging out and whatever policy they are making today, it is me and my friends who will be at the receiving end tomorrow.”

Recall that  Olumide Oworu contested for the position of House of Assembly member, representing Surulere 1 constituency in Lagos State under the Labour Party during the 2023 elections but lost to his colleague, Desmond Elliott.

Despite the setback, Oworu’s interest in politics remains undeterred.
