Sabrina Carpenter Apologizes After Viral Reaction to Fan’s Cultural Call During Coachella 2026

Sabrina Carpenter wishes she didn't say this.

After the "Please Please Please" singer called a fan letting out an Arabic celebration call, known as a Zaghourta, "weird" for the sound during her headlining set at Coachella 2026, she apologized for the comments she made onstage.

"My apologies i didn't see this person with my eyes and couldn't hear clearly," Sabrina wrote in a post on X April 11. "My reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. could have handled it better!"

"Now i know what a Zaghrouta is," she continued. "I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out."

The Zaghrouta—often used by women in the Middle East and North Africa—is commonly done during celebrations, such as weddings and parties.

As the Grammy winner sat by the piano before performing her song "We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night" during her April 10 set at the Indio Valley music festival, a noise could be heard in the audience.

"I think I heard someone yodel," Sabrina said in videos circulating on social media. "Is that what you're doing? I don't like it."

The fan clarified that the ululation was part of her Arabic culture.

"I don't like it," the 26-year-old replied. "That's your culture is yodeling?"

When the attendee emphasized that it was simply a call of celebration, Sabrina concluded, "Is this Burning Man? What's going on? This is weird."

Ahead of the "Taste" singer's set—which closed out the first day of Coachella—she shared insight into preparing for the performance.

"It's the most ambitious show I've ever done," she told Perfect in an interview published April 7. "It's probably the most time I've ever had to actually just sit down and talk about a show as I'm building it."

"Most of the time, you're really quickly thrust into physical rehearsals, but this time around we started this process around seven months ago," she continued. "So it's been a long journey. It will be very special."

Sabrina proved she has good taste on stage, dazzling the audience with a production filled with sparkling costumes, showgirls, dancing nuns and shiny vintage cars. She even had celebrity cameos from Will Ferrell and Samuel L. Jackson during her set.
