Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), has advised the governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, to reconcile with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Aondoakaa made the appeal on Tuesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show.’

He stated that President Bola Tinubu has directed both parties to sheathe their swords and embrace reconciliation.

The ex-AGF said, “The President has directed a conciliatory process by the party regarding the differences between Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.

“I don’t see anything wrong, nor do I see it as disrespect to the office of the Governor, if he approaches Akume in obedience to the President’s directive.”

His remark is coming as the face-off between Alia and Akume escalated following the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held across the state last Wednesday.

Naija News recalls that the crisis, which began shortly after Alia’s inauguration in 2023, has split party members into two factions.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and lawmaker representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, Mrs. Regina Akume, has publicly reaffirmed her marriage to George Akume.

Naija News reports that she declared that she remains his wife despite public commentary surrounding his family.

Mrs. Akume made the declaration in a video recorded during a New Year Mass, where she addressed congregants in an emotional but firm tone, stressing that her family remains united.

I want to tell the world that I still love Mr. George (Akume). He is my husband,” she said.

Pointing to members of her family seated in the congregation, she added, “That is his son sitting there, and that is also his daughter,” mentioning their names as she spoke.

Dismissing public speculation, the federal lawmaker stated unequivocally that her marital status remains unchanged.

That is my man and that is my husband. I have no other husband but him. I do not care what the world says,” she said, drawing applause from worshippers.

Mrs. Akume also used the occasion to recount a recent medical challenge, describing it as a difficult period that tested her faith and strength.

According to her, she received divine healing and has fully recovered.

“I thank God for granting me healing and making me healthy again,” she said.

She further reaffirmed her Christian faith, describing God as supreme and incomparable

He is the Almighty Father. There is none like Him, and there is no power that is above His power,” she declared.

Emphasising Christian beliefs on redemption, she added, “There is no sacrifice anybody can offer that is above the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus on the cross.”

Her comments come amid growing public interest in the Akume family, following reports that the SGF recently took another wife, a development that has generated widespread discussion across political and social circles.
