My 600-Lb. Life Star Dolly Martinez’s Cause of Death Revealed

More details surrounding Dolly Martinez’s death are coming to light.

Two days after the My 600-Lb. Life star’s family confirmed her death at the age of 30, her mom Staci Thurman told TMZ April 13 that her daughter died of congestive heart failure.

Dolly had been sick for some time, her mom told the outlet, and was admitted to a Fort Worth hospital on March 29 with fluid on her heart and lungs. Once admitted, she was put into a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator but never woke up.

Dolly’s half-sister Lindsey Cooper, whom Staci described as Dolly’s best friend, shared the news of the reality TV alum’s death in a touching tribute.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” Lindsey wrote on Facebook April 11. “Dolly had the brightest personality. She could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever.”

“While our hearts are broken here, I find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with our dad in heaven,” she continued. “I can only imagine the joy of that reunion.”

Dolly had appeared on My 600-Lb. Life in 2022 when she was 25. During her time on the TLC series, she spoke openly about her struggles with food addiction and documented her attempt to qualify for bariatric surgery.

In the wake of Dolly’s death, Lindsey pushed back against critics who she said were being “cruel and mean.”

“I’m allowed to grieve my sister, Dolly, on here,” she wrote in a separate Facebook post April 12. “I know many people knew her from a show or TikTok, and that’s okay but please remember there’s so much more to her than what was seen online or on TV.”

Lindsey added, “She was my sister first. She deserves peace and she deserves kindness.”
