Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune has issued a warning to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick regarding the difficulties he will face from José Mourinho during the 2026–27 season.
The Portuguese manager is gearing up for his inaugural campaign back with Real Madrid after being named the club's manager this summer. Looking ahead to the El Clásico matches between the Spanish giants with Mourinho leading Los Blancos, Fortune shared his thoughts on the impending matchups.
In an interview with Tribal Football, Fortune advised Flick to remain highly alert to Mourinho's renowned psychological tactics, warning that the Barcelona boss must be careful not to fall into any mental traps set by his rival.
"Hansi Flick is a calm character, and I think he already knows what’s coming now that José Mourinho is back at Real Madrid. If he allows Mourinho to get into his head, then it’s done. It’s over. If Mourinho can find a way in, you’re finished."
Fortune further explained that while Flick is a highly capable coach, Mourinho excels at the mental aspects of the game.
"Flick is undoubtedly a skilled manager, but Mourinho is among the best when it comes to psychological warfare. He also possesses sufficient talent within his squad to challenge Barcelona effectively on the field."
According to Fortune, the incoming Real Madrid boss will use these tactics to shield his own squad from scrutiny while disrupting their opponents.
