Britney Spears' ex Kevin Federline—with whom she shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19—is "happy that she is getting help" after checking into a treatment facility, his lawyer said.
Britney Spears Enters Treatment Facility One Month After DUI Arrest
Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline is hoping for a stronger future.
After the "Toxic" singer voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility, Kevin's attorney shared insight into how the dancer—who shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with Britney—is feeling about this current chapter.
"Kevin is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab," his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told TMZ in a statement published April 13, "and that if she needs help, he is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others if it was."
He added, "The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is that she follows it and completes it."
News of Britney's treatment came one month after she was arrested for driving under the influence in California.
Following her release from police custody, a rep for the Grammy winner told E! News, "This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable."
"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law," the spokesperson said, "and hopefully this can be the first step in long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."
Britney's rep added that her loved ones, including her two kids, were coming up with an "overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."

And Britney also has the support from her other ex-husband Sam Asghari amid her health journey.
"We have not spoken to each other, but I wish her the most success and recovery," he told E! News on March 15. "I think privacy is the most important thing when it comes to that."
It's a sentiment shared by the "Stronger" artist's friends, including former assistant Sean Phillip.
"She's not a harmful person," he told Good Morning Britain last month. "She is one of the most strong women that I've ever like met. She's just keeps on going."
