Katy Perry's Rep Denies Ruby Rose's "Categorically False" Sexual Assault Allegation
Katy Perry is facing legal troubles.
After Ruby Rose accused the "Dark Horse" singer of sexually assaulting her more than a decade earlier in an Australian nightclub, Perry—whose rep denied the allegations—is being investigated for the alleged incident, the Victoria Police confirmed to E! News.
"Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating [an alleged] historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010," authorities said in the April statement. "Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne's CBD."
The statement from officials noted that the investigation is ongoing and it would "be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
Rose made the allegations against Perry after seeing a video of the Grammy winner reacting to Justin Bieber's Coachella set on April 11, in which she teased him about his performance.
"Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne," the Orange is the New Black alum wrote on Threads April 12 in response to the video. "Who gives a s--t what she thinks."
Rose, 40, said that she wasn't initially interested in filing a police report over the alleged incident or any other sexual crimes that she's experienced over the years, but she had since decided to seek legal action against Perry, 41.
"I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try," she wrote on Threads April 13. "I have a long list, it will probably take more out of me than I'm prepared for, but I will come back here to update others on the process, as soon as I am ready."
One day after Rose made her allegations and Perry's reps denied them, the Batwoman actress said she had finalized her reports.
"This means I am no longer able to comment, repost," she added, "or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved."

E! News had reached out to Perry's rep for additional comment. Following Rose's public accusation, Perry's rep denied the allegations made against her in a statement to E! News.
"The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false," a representative for Perry said in a statement on April 13, "they are dangerous reckless lies."
"Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals," the statement continued, "claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."
