James Van Der Beek's Ex-Wife Heather McComb Speaks Out After His Death

Heather McComb is grateful for her party of two.

After all, the Party of Five alum announced that she and Scott Michael Campbell tied the knot after more than three years together.

"Yesterday @scottmichaelcampbell and I under the covenant of God got officially married by my beautiful sister," Heather wrote on Instagram May 31, "surrounded by the people we love most in the world in our most favorite city, Missoula, Montana."

"Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we were surrounded by," she continued. "Thank you to all of our family and friends who traveled from all over the country to be with us. You all made it so special and a truly magical weekend that we will never forget."

The 49-year-old—who was previously married to James Van Der Beek from 2003 to 2009—shared a glimpse of their nuptials, including their emotional vows exchanged in a grassy field before their loved ones.

The Shameless actor donned a black-and-white tuxedo, while Heather walked down the aisle in a strapless, lacy gown. Beneath the dress, she teased her "I [heart] my husband" socks and glittery cowboy boots.

Heather previously shared that she and Scott, 54, had been close friends before their bond became romantic, as she confirmed their relationship in 2024.

"A year ago today, these two best friends of 15 years started a new journey together," she wrote on Instagram that March. "Thank you @scottmichaelcampbell for giving my heart a safe place to reside. This was a whirlwind of a year."

And as the No One Would Tell actress is thrilled to step into this new chapter with Scott, she has proven that there was only love between her and her ex James in the years since their divorce. In fact, she paid tribute to the Dawson's Creek actor after his death in February following a battle with colorectal cancer.

"I am heartbroken over the loss of beloved James," Heather wrote on Instagram alongside a snap of her and James from his 21st birthday more than two decades earlier. "I am especially heartbroken for his incredible wife Kimberly [Van Der Beek], his beautiful children and his amazing family."

"What a journey we shared over the years," she continued. "I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades."
