‘It Was Clear Assassination Attempt’ – Yunusa Tanko Speaks On Attack On Peter Obi, ADC Chieftains

The National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, has described the attack on the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a clear assassination attempt.

Naija News reports that Tanko made this statement on Wednesday during an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily’, a programme on Channels Television.

Recounting the incident, Tanko stated that they were followed to the Benin City residence of All Progressives Congress (APC) former National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.

He added that the attack was a surprise to them, especially given the heavy security they had.

He said, “It’s clear to me that it was just an attempt at assassination because they followed us down to Oyegun’s house at GRA in Benin.

“After a prior engagement, we proceeded to Chief’s house. There, we learned the event schedule and subsequently moved to the venue, a three-story building.

“Although we successfully concluded our programme without incident, five minutes after our departure, attacks occurred at the venue.

“Footage showed significant damage. We then returned to Chief Oyegun’s house, where, despite expectations of heavy security, all of a sudden we started hearing gunshots.”

Meanwhile, ADC chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that the assassination attempt on Peter Obi was sponsored by the Edo State government or its agents.

Naija News recalls that gunmen on Tuesday attacked Peter Obi, along with other chieftains of the ADC in Edo State.

Okonkwo, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, recalled a previous threat issued by the incumbent Edo State Governor, Monday Okpehbolo, to Peter Obi against entering the state without his clearance.
