A former member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has said the peaceful conduct of the recent congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State signals the party’s readiness to reclaim power in the state in the 2027 general elections.
Lam-Adesina also commended the emergence of new executives during the congress, describing it as a positive step towards repositioning the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Naija News reports that during the congress held on Tuesday, party members elected Moses Adeyemo as the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State.
Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, previously served as deputy governor of the state under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, from 2011 to 2019.
His emergence, according to party stakeholders, is expected to strengthen the APC’s structure in the state as it prepares for future elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his media office, Lam-Adesina said the peaceful conduct of the party’s congresses across wards, local government areas and the state level reflected the unity among members.
He noted that Adeyemo’s emergence through consensus demonstrated the level of harmony within the party and positioned the APC for greater success.
According to him, the new chairman’s experience in governance and politics would help reposition the party and improve its chances in the next election.
“Congratulations to our dear father and the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State. His emergence is, without doubt, the dawn of a new era for the party,” Lam-Adesina said.
“He’s bringing his years of political and administrative experience to lead the party to victory next year.”
The former lawmaker expressed optimism that the APC would regain control of Oyo State from the opposition in the 2027 elections.
“This is the time for us to take the state back from the opposition, and we are ready to do that with the new chairman and his executives in front of us,” he added.
Meanwhile, the APC has released an updated schedule for its nationwide congresses, national convention, and related activities.
According to the timetable signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses were scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 4.
The purchase and submission of forms for the zonal congresses and the party’s national convention are expected to take place between Thursday, March 13, and Monday, March 16.
The party also fixed Monday, March 23, for the inauguration of Zonal Congresses Screening and Screening Appeal Committees, as well as the conduct of the zonal congresses and the setting up of appeal committees for both the zonal congresses and the national convention.
