To help consumers navigate rising living costs and build stronger financial habits, fintech platform OPay has introduced a nationwide initiative called the 7 Savings Festival. Powered by OPay's digital savings product OWealth, the 49-day campaign is designed to make structured saving both accessible and financially rewarding.
Running from August 10 to September 27, 2026, the campaign encourages users to establish a Target Savings plan. Participants who save consistently and complete their goals without making early withdrawals will receive an interest rate of 27% per annum. They will also earn daily interest and qualify for a share of an additional ₦77 million interest pool.
The initiative represents a broader transition within the Nigerian digital financial services sector, moving beyond basic transaction processing toward helping users cultivate long-term financial security. By rewarding consistent saving rather than single deposits, OPay aims to foster lasting financial habits. The campaign also highlights the role of consumer trust, as users increasingly seek digital platforms that allow them to securely grow their funds.
Elizabeth Wang, Chief Commercial Officer at OPay, highlighted the goals of the initiative:
“The OPay 7 Savings Festival reflects our commitment to helping Nigerians build stronger financial habits. By saving consistently towards their goals, customers can enjoy rewarding benefits, including an interest rate of 27% per annum, while building financial confidence on a platform they can trust.”
