A Reform UK councillor representing the Sunderland area has been charged under the United Kingdom's Communications Act 2003 following a police investigation into an offensive social media post targeting the Nigerian community.
Glenn Gibbins, 66, faces the charges after Northumbria Police launched an inquiry into a post he published in 2024. The online message stated:
"Carnt believe amount of nigerians in town…..should m+lt them all down and fill in the pot h%les!!"
