Hull City have finalized the transfer of defensive midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Everton for an undisclosed fee, according to a report from the Daily Post.
The midfielder has committed to a five-year contract with the Tigers, securing his future at the club until the summer of 2031.
Iroegbunam initially began his senior professional career at Aston Villa, having transitioned to the club from West Bromwich Albion's youth academy. The 23-year-old went on to make 48 Premier League appearances during his time with Everton.
Although Iroegbunam has represented England at the youth international level, he remains eligible to play for the Nigerian national team in the future.
Why It Matters
Securing young players with top-flight experience on long-term contracts is a vital strategy for EFL Championship clubs aiming to build squad stability and mount serious promotion campaigns. Additionally, Iroegbunam's international status reflects a broader, ongoing trend in modern football where national associations actively compete for talented dual-national players. Nigeria's national team has a well-established history of successfully recruiting English-born players who developed through elite Premier League academies.
