Following The Voice alum Dylan Carter’s death on April 25 at the age of 24, the Colleton County coroner confirmed he died of blunt force trauma in a car accident.
'The Voice' Alum Dylan Carter Dead at 24
The details have emerged surrounding the death of Dylan Carter.
After the singer passed away on April 25 at the age of 24, South Carolina’s Colleton County coroner confirmed to TMZ that Carter died of blunt force injuries sustained in a car crash.
His death was ruled accidental, and the outlet reported that he had been wearing his seatbelt during the single-car accident on the Lowcountry Highway.
Law enforcement officials told TMZ that a 2026 Tesla veered off the road while traveling southbound on U.S. Route 21, striking a pole and a fence before it began rolling. They confirmed the driver was the only one present in the car, sharing that he died in the hospital.
Carter first rose to fame when he competed on season 24 of The Voice in 2023, joining Team Reba under the tutelage of Reba McEntire, who also shared her sadness over his untimely passing.
“We will miss Dylan so much,” she wrote on Instagram Stories April 27. “He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend.”
The “I Look to You” singer’s death was also confirmed by the nonprofit he co-founded, The Local Voice, which raises funds for women battling cancer. The organization shared that Carter was “the heart of what we do."

"He believed every voice matters and lived that every day,” read a statement posted on The Local Voice’s Facebook April 26. “Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen. We are so grateful for Dylan, for the love he gave this community, and for the impact he leaves behind."
Carter was also remembered by Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr.
"Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident," he wrote on Facebook April 26. "As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events. His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt."
