The street racing world has lost a star.
Chris “Block” Gordon, best known for appearing on Discovery Channel’s Street Outlaws spinoff Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, died in a crash while racing at Ohio’s KD Motorsports Park on Aug. 22, the racetrack confirmed. He was 55.
“As most of you know by now, we had a devastating accident last night at the track involving our great friend and fellow racer, Chris “Block” Gordon…he was lost as a result of this terrible incident,” they shared in an Aug. 23 statement to Facebook. “Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to mourn the loss of this good man an absolute legend of our sport.”
The racetrack noted their staff “was immediately on scene with trained medical staff, firefighters, EMT and medical equipment, along with highly medically trained bystanders who exhausted all of their efforts at the time of the accident.”
The statement added that the race organizers were attempting to “process this tragedy,” requesting, “for all involved let’s keep speculation and uninformed opinions to a minimum as we pray for his family.”
“RIP ‘Race in Peace’ my friend,” the statement concluded, “you will be missed by so many.”
No other information regarding his passing was shared, although the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office told CBS affiliate WOWK that Gordon was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gordon had made his reality competition series debut on Street Outlaws: Fastest in America in 2020, which saw eight teams competing in the biggest street race in the United States. He served as the leader for Team South Carolina, leading them to victory and earning him the nickname "South Carolina Street King.”
Prior to his death, Gordon had posted about the race on his own Facebook, sharing a flyer about the event and adding in the caption, “It's race day at the Hill. Drivers meeting @ 6:15. Let's get busy.”
Gordon’s fiancée Amanda Laport Grasty shared a heartbreaking tribute to her late husband, writing on Facebook Aug. 24, “I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to think, I don’t know what to feel, I don’t know what to do…. I AM SHATTERED!!!!”

She asked that those around her be patient with her and she tried to process Gordon’s death.
“I lost my best friend,” she wrote, “and I don’t know how to navigate life without him in it.”
“Please pray for me, pray that I am able to make the best decisions, pray that I am able to at least semi function…. I’M LOST,” she continued. “We did EVERYTHING together, from the time we woke up in the morning until he kissed my forehead good night EVERY NIGHT. We were a TEAM and now I’ve lost my MVP. There is no ‘I’ in ‘team’ so now I don’t know how ‘I’ am supposed to move continue.”
