Naomi Osaka is shedding her skin at the Met Gala 2026

Quite literally, as the tennis champion stepped out in a double Robert Wun-designed look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art fundraiser May 4, complete with a regal white dress with red detailing and a bold blood red skin-tight gown.

In Naomi’s initial look, she sported a white overcoat with red feather-like detailing poking out of the chest. She topped her look with a massive matching hat that also featured the feathered detailing, as well as claw-inspired sheer gloves. (For every star who stepped out at the Met Gala 2026, see here.)

And while the 28-year-old’s initial look was enough for a grand slam, she dropped jaws once she began ascending the steps of the “Costume Art” evening. Indeed, she put her own twist on the “Fashion is Art” dress code by doing some performance art.

Once she hit the Met steps, Naomi was assisted in removing the white overcoat to reveal her second look. And she went on to explain that her look proves fashion runs more than just skin-deep.

“I was able to work with Robert Wun which is an incredible honor for me,” Naomi told Variety during the event. “This is the shedding of the skin and the human anatomy.”

She later described her look as “inspirational and different.”

Of course, Naomi wasn’t the only tennis champ to pull out all the stops for fashion’s biggest night. Venus Williams—who is co-hosting the event alongside Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé and Anna Wintour—shared how her take on the evening’s theme also carried a deeper message.

"I'm wearing my earrings that say six percent," Venus exclusively told Zuri Hall during Live From E!: Met Gala 2026, "and representing Gatorade and this project where we're talking about how women only get six percent of the research in sports science."

As she noted, “Can you imagine? So tonight’s a special night for that.”
