Russia confronts US, Turkey over plan to arm Ukraine

Russia has issued warnings to both the United States and Turkey regarding a proposed large-scale delivery of weaponry and ammunition to Ukraine.

According to a statement from Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, documents released by the United States Congress reveal that the planned shipment constitutes a substantial arsenal. The specified military aid includes 12 multiple rocket launch systems, more than 2,500 non-guided cluster munitions, 47,000 203-mm cluster shells, and 70 ATACMS short-range missiles.

“What were the parties thinking when they decided to open another Pandora’s box to make the Banderite regime last longer in its agony while claiming more lives?”

Zakharova wrote. Moscow is demanding details on who initiated the re-export plan, the logistics of how the weapons will be transported, and the scheduled timeline for when the lethal cargo will be sent to Ukraine.

The spokeswoman accused Washington and Ankara of bias, pointing out that both nations have previously sought to play a distinct role in resolving the conflict through political and diplomatic channels. She warned that supplying additional arms to Ukraine would not impact the course of Russia's "special military operation" or deter it from "Russia’s righteous scenario."

Beyond Kyiv's "determination to cause harm," Zakharova emphasized that the planned shipment would strain Moscow's diplomatic ties with both Washington and Ankara. Consequently, the Russian government has formally requested explanations from the United States and Turkey, adding that there remains time for them to reconsider the decision.
