Security forces in Kaduna State have dismantled two hideouts used by bandits during a clearance operation in the Makarfi Local Government Area. The joint exercise was executed by police officers in partnership with the Kaduna State Vigilance Service.

According to a statement released on Saturday in Kaduna by the command's spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the operation commenced at 8:00 a.m., as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Hassan detailed the geographic scope of the raid, stating,

"The operatives raided suspected bandits’ enclaves around Durum and Danguzuri general areas, extending to the boundary with Kano State."

During the crackdown, security personnel demolished two structures situated at Rugar Mining Goggo and Ungwar Maryamu, Danguzuri. Authorities identified these locations as camps where bandits held kidnapped victims hostage.

Hassan confirmed that normalcy has been restored to the affected communities, though joint security patrols are still actively ongoing in the region.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the local communities for their cooperation and praised the bravery of the security personnel involved. Muhammad reaffirmed the command's commitment to sustaining its offensive against banditry and other criminal activities across the state.

Why It Matters

Northwestern Nigeria, particularly Kaduna State, has faced a severe security crisis characterized by rampant banditry, cattle rustling, and mass kidnappings for ransom. Because these armed groups frequently establish camps in dense forests and porous border regions between states, local security forces often rely on joint operations to track them.
