Katsina United has finalized the signing of midfielder Suleiman Idris, who joins the club as a free agent, according to a report by Daily Post.
The move marks Idris's return to Nigerian football following a one-season stint with Armenian outfit West Armenia FC. Prior to agreeing to terms with Katsina United, the midfielder had been linked with a transfer to Israeli club Hapoel Afula, though that proposed move ultimately collapsed.
Idris is expected to provide a significant boost to Katsina United's midfield department as the team aims for a successful campaign. The club opened its current season with a 1-1 draw against the defending champions, Rangers.
Why It Matters
Katsina United competes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the country's top-flight football division. The league frequently acts as a springboard for Nigerian talent looking to transition to European leagues, while also welcoming back players who have gained professional experience abroad. Integrating players with international exposure is a key tactic for NPFL clubs seeking to challenge established powerhouses and secure competitive advantages in the domestic campaign.
