Precision airstrikes conducted by the air component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have targeted a large convoy of armed bandits traveling from Zamfara State toward Kebbi State, with numerous fighters believed to have been killed.
According to reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed group was traveling from the Sangeko Gap in Zamfara to Makuku in Kebbi. The force was estimated to consist of approximately 240 fighters, organized into three formations and traveling on motorcycles.
Acting on credible intelligence, Nigerian security forces—comprising Nigerian Army troops and Nigeria Police Force personnel—were deployed to block the advancing group, resulting in fierce clashes in the region. An air interdiction mission was initiated once the bandits' movements were spotted.
"Sources familiar with the operation said the air strikes were carefully executed on identified concentrations of the criminals, resulting in the obliteration of scores of bandits and disrupting their planned movement into the area," the report noted.
