Met Gala 2026 Dress Code Revealed
Do you guys ever think about Margot Robbie at the Met Gala?
Well, the Barbie star gave fans another reason when she stepped out at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4. Tapping into the night's "Fashion Is Art" dress code, Margot turned heads in a strapless gold Chanel gown. (Click here to see all the celebrity fashion.)
Keeping her look understated, she kept her hair in a sleek updo, with dangling gold earrings and a matching ring.
And Margot, who arrived without husband Tom Ackerley, is known to dress on theme, which is "Costume Art" at this year's fashion fundraiser. After all, the 35-year-old led the charge on the Barbiecore trend in 2023, channeling the famous doll while promoting the Barbie movie that year.
In fact, she and stylist Andrew Mukamal dug deep into the Mattel archives, pulling inspiration from all the iconic outfits Barbie has donned throughout the years.
“We're finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies," Margot—who wore looks from Chanel, Valentino, Hervé Léger, Versace and more during the promotional tour—told People at the time. “We're pairing Barbie references with great designers.”
In fact, Andrew quipped that the pair had "a board where every city was mapped out" with a specific look.

"We knew exactly which looks, which Barbies and which references were archival, and everything was very specific for each destination," he continued, quipping that fans would be "surprised at how much I could fit in one of my suitcases."
And when it was time for Wuthering Heights' release earlier this year, Margot went method again, teaming up with Andrew for a press tour wardrobe that leaned into the Emily Brontë adaptation's Victorian gothic aesthetics.
"This is Wuthering Heights," she told Variety of her Schiaparelli gown featuring a croset and a black-to-red ombre skirt during the movie's world premiere in February. "We were like, ‘If we were to make Wuthering Heights into a dress, what would it look like?’"
Margot added, "And so, it was kind of like this idea of it soaking up the ground, which we knew was going to be red, a red carpet—or in this case, a red lacquer floor—and having it kind of seep up into the dress."
