Lauren Sánchez Bezos arrived at the 2026 Met Gala—where she and husband Jeff Bezos are honorary chairs alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour—in a plunging navy Schiaparelli gown.
Met Gala 2026 Dress Code Revealed
Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ Met Gala look is out of this world.
When the Blue Origin Space Flight alum stepped onto the carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s front steps, she did so in a midnight blue Schiaparelli by Daniel Roseberry gown that fulfilled her interpretation of the night’s theme of “Costume Art” in a look inspired by John Singer Sargent's painting Madame X.
Keeping true to the "Fashion is Art"theme, she let the corseted look—and it's bejewled straps—take center stage, with minimal jewelry aside from Lorraine Schwartz earrings. (See all the stars at the Met Gala here.)
Sánchez arrived sans her husband of nearly a year Jeff Bezos, who joined her as an honorary co-chair at the 2026 soirée. And though she and the Amazon founder previously attended the 2024 event, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion," together, this year she posed with fellow co-chairs Anna Wintour and Nicole Kidman. (Beyoncé and Venus Williams round out the co-chair group.)
The former journalist and Bezos were named to their positions as they served as the biggest donors of the 2026 Gala. But while the decision was not without its backlash, the former Vogue Editor-in-Chief and Met Gala extraordinaire expressed her gratitude to the couple.
"I think Lauren is going to be a wonderful asset to the museum and to the event," Wintour—for whom the 2026 Gala marks her first with her successor Chloe Malle at the helm—told CNN in November. "[I'm] very grateful for her incredible generosity, and she's a great lover of costume and obviously of fashion, so we're thrilled she's part of the night."

Meanwhile, Sánchez was thrilled to learn of her expanded role at this year’s bash.
"It has been such a fun and meaningful experience, and when Anna called me and said, ‘Do you want to co-chair and also be the sponsors of the Met?’ I was so honored," she told Today’s Craig Melvin during a March 3 appearance on the morning show. “And then she told me the theme — fashion is art.”
As for the 56-year-old’s interpretation of the theme, she’s looking to the great creatives of years past.
“These designers are true artists,” she continued. “[Elsa] Schiaparelli was best friends with Salvador Dalí, and his medium was a canvas, and hers was clothing. It's going to be incredible to see what everyone wears and to be able to really honor all these designers. I cannot wait.”
