Katy Perry was almost unrecognizable at the 2026 Met Gala, wearing an astronaut-style mask that covered her face as she attended fashion's biggest night in New York City on May 4.
Christian Siriano Reveals How He Navigates Last-Minute Met Gala Requests
Katy Perry’s look is supernatural, extraterrestrial at the 2026 Met Gala.
The “E.T.” singer was leaning in her astronaut vibes as she walked the steps at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the “Costume Art”-themed gala May 4.
For the night’s “Fashion Is Art” dress code, Katy opted for a white, strapless Stella McCartney gown featuring a long train and white, elbow-length gloves.
But it was almost impossible to figure out who she was as the 41-year-old donned a white and silver mask reminiscent of an astronaut’s helmet for the evening, which was co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour. (See all the celebrities at the event here.)
And it certainly felt appropriate given that the night was a reunion for Katy, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez Bezos as all three were in attendance at the gala after taking part in Blue Origin’s space launch last year.
Katy had previously teased her appearance at the Costume Institute benefit, writing on X May 3, “Should I go to #TheMet?”
The “Teenage Dreams” singer then gave fans a taste of her look, posting a video of her gloved hands giving the middle finger on TikTok set to her song “The One That Got Away.”

Katy—who shares daughter Daisy, 5, with ex Orlando Bloom—has been known for her risky fashion takes at the Met Gala having previously donned angel wings for 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” and giving fans a double dose of fashion in 2019’s "Camp: Notes on Fashion,” wearing a full chandelier dress on the Met steps before changing into a cheeseburger costume once inside.
The Grammy nominee was also a co-chair for the 2017 Met Gala, wearing a custom John Galliano red coat over a tulle and chiffon gown for the night’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” theme.
And the evening was extra special for Katy, as she told Vogue while reflecting on her look in 2023, “I felt like I belonged in fashion, finally.”
