The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended multiple suspects linked to burglary, theft, and the possession of stolen goods during targeted, intelligence-driven operations across the state.
During these operations, law enforcement officers recovered a tricycle, two motorcycles, and 11 Android smartphones, according to a statement released on Friday by ASP Lawal Shi’isu, the police public relations officer for the state.
Officers from the Maigatari and Malam Madori Divisions detained three individuals accused of possessing stolen Royal and Boxer motorcycles. The police identified these suspects as 30-year-old Abubakar Ya’u and 28-year-old Aminu Ya’u, both residents of Dantanoma Quarters in the Gumel Local Government Area (LGA), alongside 25-year-old Abdullahi Bala from Garbagar Village in the Guri LGA.
Additionally, authorities arrested 31-year-old Anas Nuhu from Jobe Village, located in the Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano State. Nuhu was allegedly found with a tricycle bearing the registration number MDB 478 QE and Union number GWL 1842, which is believed to have been stolen from a park in Tofa LGA. The police stated that Nuhu confessed to the theft during questioning.
The case has been charged to court,the police command stated, noting that investigations into the other motorcycle-related cases have also concluded, with those suspects arraigned for prosecution.
In a separate incident, 18-year-old Mamman Adamu of Tutiyari Village in the Kirikasamma LGA was arrested following a reported shop break-in in Birniwa. Adamu was linked to the theft of 11 Android phones, all of which were successfully recovered by the police. According to authorities, Adamu confessed to the burglary and will face charges in court once investigations are complete.
