Jamie Lynn Spears Is “Totally Not Crying” Over Photos From Daughter Maddie Watson’s Senior Prom
Jamie Lynn Spears is teaching a lesson in motherhood 101.
As her daughter Maddie Watson's high school graduation approaches, the Zoey 101 alum reflected on raising the 17-year-old.
"Welp….the grad invites are sent, the cap and gown arrived, and the last regular day of school is here….," Jamie captioned an April 27 Instagram post featuring adorable photos of herself and the teen. "I guess the lovely state of denial that I forced myself to be in has to end, bc the reality of time is coming at me like a freight train."
And Jamie Lynn—who welcomed Maddie in 2008 with ex Casey Aldridge—can't believe how fast her little girl grew up in the blink of an eye.
"I know the saying 'the days are long, but the years are short' is one of the most cliche sayings, bc it's said so much," the 35-year-old wrote, "but I now know that cliches are only said so much bc they continue to ring true in every lifetime throughout the test of time."
"Maybe, people only hate cliches, bc they are the undeniable, unavoidable truth hitting us right in the face," she continued, "and if you're fortunate enough, kids growing up is one of those few guarantees in life."
The Steel Magnolias star—who also shares daughter Ivey, 7, with husband Jamie Watson—went on to call the "privilege" of watching one's children grow up "one of the most beautiful & fulfilling things we can experience as humans."
And while motherhood can have ups and downs, Jamie Lynn said she's "grateful" for every "moment" of the journey.
"It's bittersweet, bc you're so proud of everything they have accomplished this far," she explained, "and so excited to watch everything that their future will bring, while also longing for them to stay your baby forever."

As she gets ready to watch Maddie receive her high school diploma, the mom of two left her followers with one last note.
"I know I'm one of luckiest mama's in the world, so I'll stop my rambling now, until I completely lose it on graduation day," Jamie Lynn—who just recently sent off her daughter to her senior prom—said. "I'll leave ya with another cliche, go love on your babies, and really REALLY try to be present, no matter what else is going on in your professional or personal life, bc you will NEVER regret spending time with your kids."
"Also, it's all about the little things, like today, I had a scoop of coffee ice cream for breakfast," she added. "I'll probably have it for lunch too, bc tears & ice cream is an unbeatable duo."
