Israel raids West Bank live: Dozens of Palestinians detained during assault

In the early hours of July 26, 2026, Israeli military forces launched a raid into the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, detaining approximately 40 Palestinians. Those taken into custody during the military operation included former prisoners as well as one woman.

During the incursion, a shootout took place in Nablus. Israeli forces deployed tear gas against journalists who were actively reporting on the gunfire exchange.

In a separate development within the Salfit governorate, Israeli settlers established a new outpost. This outpost was set up on land belonging to the Palestinian village of Deir Istiya.

Why It Matters

The occupied West Bank has seen a long-standing pattern of Israeli military incursions and expanding settler activity. Nablus is a frequent flashpoint for these security operations, which often lead to violent clashes between Israeli forces and local Palestinians. Additionally, the establishment of settler outposts is a major source of tension, as the international community widely considers all Israeli settlements on occupied land to be illegal under international law.
