The political atmosphere in Osun State is heating up as Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Bashir Ahmad are poised for a potential confrontation on Tuesday. This development comes amid intensifying campaigns leading up to the state's governorship election scheduled for August 15.
The tension between the two escalated on Thursday following a telephone conversation between President Bola Tinubu and the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who is also Davido’s uncle. Celebrating the phone call on the social media platform X, Davido posted that he "was there live! I witnessed history."
In response, Ahmad, who previously served as a presidential media aide, indicated he had bookmarked the singer's post. He implied that Davido would eventually return to the platform to express disappointment over the election's final results.
Davido countered by mocking Ahmad's performance in a recent APC primary election, where Ahmad reportedly received only 16 votes. The Afrobeats star also criticized the former presidential aide, claiming he failed to bring positive development to his local community despite holding a government position for eight years.
