Will Taylor Frankie Paul's ‘Bachelorette’ Season Ever Air? Disney Exec Says…
Taylor Frankie Paul had been hoping her April 30 court hearing with ex Dakota Mortensen could be more of a one-on-one date.
Instead, when the exes come together in Utah's third district court to discuss the competing protective orders they've filed against one another and the custody of their 2-year-old son, everything will be on the record.
And, according to the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star's attorney it could be one of the most dramatic encounters ever.
As Eric Swinyard put it in the remote April 7 hearing that saw the presiding judge grant Mortensen temporary custody with Paul receiving supervised visitation, "We'll have a showdown on the 30th."
Their legal battle began on March 19, with Mortensen, 33, filing a protective order against his onetime girlfriend the same day that TMZ publish a video of a 2023 physical altercation that saw Paul, 31, throw a chair as a child cried off-camera. (The TikToker also shares two kids with former husband Tate Paul.)
That same day ABC announced that viewers would not see Paul hand out the roses on her already-filmed season of The Bachelorette.
And the situation has only grown thornier in the weeks since.
In his restraining order, Mortensen alleged that his former partner was physically abusive toward him during two separate February incidents, per the filing obtained by TMZ.
But ahead of the April 7 hearing, Paul filed her own temporary restraining order alleging Mortensen had a "pattern of abusive conduct and coercive control" throughout their three-year on-again, off-again romance.
And with neither side there to make friends, their lawyers are in agreement that the meet-up will be tense.
"Today's hearing was used by the respondent to assassinate Dakota's character as a dad, whose only concern is for the welfare of his son," Mortensen's attorney Joel Kittrell said in a statement following the April 7 court date. "We look forward to the 30th to tell the true story."
Similarly, Paul is ready for her day in court.
"We all know that social media has made up its mind about my client," said her attorney. "The court, unlike social media, actually has to get it right. The evidence we believe, on the 30th when viewed in its totality, will show who the real abuser is, who the real violent actor has been during the party's relationship."
So, can we steal you for a sec? Because we're breaking down everything that's happened between the exes.

"He stood by me with that because he knew everything going on behind closed doors,” she said. “That was a horrible night and I'm full of regret. Dakota has been at rock bottom himself, so he could totally relate. He was like, 'I want to help you out of this.'"
As for the confrontation itself, she later said the incident had been building up.
“I had an ectopic [pregnancy] a few months prior, and then I had a chemical pregnancy,” she shared on the Viall Files podcast in September 2024. “I don't want to blame hormones, but I will put that into account. Like, I am pretty whack.”

During the altercation, Paul accused Mortensen of pushing her to the floor before he started recording, while he alleged, "You did this," and asked her to help her then-5-year-old. Later, Paul could be heard yelling, "Get away from my daughter."
The responding police officer’s written declaration obtained by E! News in 2023 confirmed the child was hit by one of the stools.
