Isis Sio is in the hospital after a scary injury.
The 19-year-old boxer has been placed into a medically induced coma after suffering a knockout during the first round of a ProBox TV card match on March 21, the organization confirmed in a statement.
“On behalf of CEO Garry Jonas and the entire ProBox family we are praying for a speedy recovery for Isis Sio,” ProBox TV continued in its March 22 update. “Our thoughts are with her and her family at this very difficult time. Please join us in wishing for a full recovery.”
Isis—whose turned professional in September and so far has gone 1-3 in the ring—was competing against Jocelyn Camarillo in the match when she was knocked out, per ESPN, after receiving a series of head shots.
The outlet reports she received immediate medical attention and could be seen convulsing as she was taken out of the arena on a stretcher. The teenager is receiving medical treatment at the Loma Linda University Health medical center.
Isis’ injury comes after just under two months after losing in a knockout against Perla Bazaldua on Jan. 30. While it is customary for male and female boxers to undergo a 45 to 60-day medical suspension following a knockout, because Isis’ match against Perla ended in body shots, she only had to complete a 30-day period.

Following the news of Isis injury, Jocelyn took to social media to express her well wishes.
“First and foremost, my opponent has been on my mind and I'm truly relieved that she's okay,” she wrote in a March 23 Instagram Story. “I would never want anything bad to happen to anyone I share the ring with. This sport is dangerous, and we all step in there knowing what's at risk.”
Jocelyn—whose victory against Isis marked her first KO win—also took a moment to share her experience at the end of the fight.
“In the moment I was overwhelmed with emotion,” she added. “I was proud, excited, and honestly just reacting. It was never from a place of disrespect or lack of sportsmanship As soon as it registered what was happening, my energy shifted. I took a knee and my concern was with her. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a malicious person.”
“I'm still learning and growing, not just as a fighter but as a person navigating moments like this in the public eye,” she added. “Much respect to Isis Sio.”
