RHONY’s Bethenny Frankel Debuts Romance With Shane L. Campbell 2 Years After Paul Bernon Breakup
Here's the skinny on Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy five years after their contentious divorce.
The Real Housewives of New York City alum didn't hold back while speaking about her ex-husband, revealing that the two are "not exactly" friendly these days.
"We do both exist on this earth, so that’s positive," Frankel quipped, after Friends Keep Secrets podcast host Benny Blanco asked if the former couple still "coexist" during the Sept. 29 episode. "It’s been a strained year. It’s been a challenging year."
In fact, the Skinnygirl founder—who finalized her divorce from Hoppy in 2021, nearly 10 years after their breakup—described her legal separation from the businessman as "torture" and "traumatic."
"There were a lot of circumstances that have been too much," Frankel continued, adding of their "not garden variety" divorce proceedings, "Ten years on a two-year marriage."
Indeed, Frankel and Hoppy, both 55, spent years squabbling in court following their 2012 breakup. In 2021, a judge finally signed off on the split, awarding Frankel primary residential custody of their daughter Bryn, now 16, allowing her to stop child support payments to her ex.
And while the custody battle was "horrible, horrendous, worst of my life," it was all worth it for Frankel, who considers Bryn to be her best friend.
"I love her so much," the Just B podcaster raved. "When we vibe and we are watching something and we’re laughing, we connect."

However, Frankel, who's now dating investment banker Shane L. Campbell, noted that she and Bryn are "on different paths" of life, so their relationship "feels almost like a roommate in a way."
"We’re very much like Thelma and Louise," she added. "We’re in totally different chapters of our lives, obviously, and we respect each other’s chapters."
Besides, Bryn doesn't easily get embarrassed by her mom. So much so, Frankel revealed that Bryn knows exactly how she lost her virginity.
"Sixteen years old to Mike Parish on Valentine's Day," she shared. "I tell Bryn. It was a beautiful story and that's how it should be for every young girl."
