A group of travellers escorting a bride from Katsina State to Kebbi State has been abducted by suspected bandits, sparking renewed anxiety regarding road safety in Nigeria's North-West region.
The incident was reported on Saturday via the social media platform X by Bakatsine, a crisis reporter who covers the North-West region.
According to Bakatsine, the victims were part of a wedding convoy when they were intercepted. In his online post, he appealed for public support and prayers for those captured.
"We kindly request your prayers for our friends and relatives who were travelling from Sheme, Katsina State, to Kebbi State to escort a bride. Along the journey, they reportedly encountered bandits and some members of the convoy were abducted."
