At least 15 people have died and 27 others remain missing after an overloaded ferry capsized on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, according to the nation's Civil Protection Unit. The vessel overturned on Tuesday after being struck by strong waves, and officials confirmed that at least 77 people have been rescued.

The boat, which serves as a transport link between the northern town of Kariba and various islands and fishing camps, was carrying far more than its official capacity of 90 people when the incident occurred.
