The reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson stepped out at the 2026 Met Gala in New York City May 4. Also walking the famed Met steps was her fellow basketball star Angel Reese.

The WNBA is taking over a different arena.
Indeed, basketball stars like A’ja Wilson and Angel Reese aren’t just dominating on the court these days—they’re sinkin’ threes on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For the 2026 Met Gala, Angel wore a custom pink off-the-shoulder Altuzarra dress with billowing sleeves and a high leg slit. Around her neck, the Atlanta Dream forward sported a dazzling diamond necklace.
For her part, A'ja donned a Prabal Gurung gold textured column gown with cape sleeves. She also complemented the look with a set of gold choker diamond necklaces.
The Las Vegas Aces center is pulling double duty tonight as an attendee and member of the 2026 host committee—an honor she shares alongside stars like Zoë Kravitz, Doja Cat, Teyana Taylor, Sam Smith and Sabrina Carpenter.
And though style and sports have not always gone hand-in-hand, A’ja has embraced the evolution of fashion in the world of basketball.
“Tunnel ’fits changed our whole league,” she told Vogue in March about athletes’ now-viral pregame looks. “It brought a different audience and set of eyes to us.”
However, A’ja emphasized that her love for fashion doesn’t distract from her focus on basketball.

“There’s plenty of times where I’ve told my stylist, ‘I ain’t doing this. I need to pour into this scouting report before I put on a pair of heels,’” the 29-year-old continued. Still, she added, “People should understand how powerful it is to walk into a game in heels, crush it, and put those heels back on. That is so powerful. That is women and I love that for us.”
As for her style inspiration? She need not look further than Beyoncé, who is co-chairing alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour.

“Beyoncé is amazing,” A’ja shared. “Now when I see her, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I met that lady. Get out of the way, everybody.’ Nothing else matters.”
