Hon. Adekunle Oladeji, a former Chairman of the Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Oyo State, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Oladeji, who served as the LCDA chairman during the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, confirmed his political realignment on Saturday. The Aare Latosa LCDA is situated under the Ibadan North Local Government Area.
The defection marks a political departure from his family's long-standing ties to the APC. Oladeji's father, Alhaji B.A.O. Oladeji, remains a major stakeholder in the Oyo State APC. Historically, the elder Oladeji served as the Oyo South Senatorial District Chairman for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which was among the political parties that merged to establish the APC between 2014 and 2015.
While his father continues to be a key figure within the APC, the younger Oladeji has aligned himself with the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections. He has publicly announced his support for the APM's governorship candidate, Mr. Bimbo Adekanmbi, as well as Governor Seyi Makinde, whom he identified as the party's presidential candidate.
When contacted regarding his departure from the APC, Oladeji verified the move in a brief message, stating:
“Yes. It is confirmed.”
